Ray-Ban RB2132 New Wayfarer Sunglasses

These glasses are the real deal. No creaking temple pieces and all the logos are right. Set them down and they are perfectly balanced. Got these for my wife. They are the smaller version and fit her great. It's her first pair of decent sunglasses and I'm hearing nothing but positives from her. Polarized lenses give a crisp glare free view and they look great on her too.

Samsung Chromebook Wi-Fi 11.6-Inch

1 comments | Read more...
I'm an editor for a web-based publication so my usage is primarily writing and some light (very light) image editing. I've done most of my writing on Google Docs for a long time because it automatically saves and I hate writing directly into the CMS. We also use Google Apps Business for e-mail, calendaring and doc sharing so that rocks.

The Samsung Chromebook is very sleek, thin, and light. It is somewhat similar in form to a Macbook Air, but it's also close to a number of the new Ultrabooks. The feel in hand is very solid and doesn't seem like a $249 computer. The keyboard is very good; very solid feel and great action. If you type quickly (100+ wpm), you'll be happy to know this keyboard can keep up with you. The only better keyboard I've used in recent memory is the Air, but it's not far off.

Product Description

Chromebooks run Web-based apps, not traditional PC applications.
Chromebooks are designed to be connected to the Internet. You can create documents and spreadsheets or edit photos on a Chromebook using Google apps designed for these purposes. The Chrome operating system will not load and run traditional PC software like Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop. However, files created in these applications can be viewed and edited using Google apps on your Chromebook or cloud-based applications like Microsoft's Office web apps.

You store your files in the Cloud, not on the machine.
To help make them thin and light, Chromebooks are built without large-capacity drives. So instead of storing your documents, videos, and photos on your computer, you save them to Google Drive (Google's Cloud-based storage service). Your files are password-protected and secure, and you can access them anywhere there's an Internet connection. If you know you'll want access to a file or photo offline, however, you can easily save it to the built-in solid-state drive.

BenQ EW EW2440L 24-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor

0 comments | Read more...
The obvious triggers here were the computer monitors I was staring at and surrounding lighting conditions. But to do my job there was no way of getting around that. PWM, the technology nearly all LED monitors use to reduce the brightness from 100%, makes the backlight of a monitor turn on and off rapidly, creating a flicker effect that is mostly imperceptible but can cause eyestrain and headache in those who are sensitive to it. Some people suggest turning the brightness to 100% to avoid PWM, but that creates a high-contrast situation that is a migraine trigger in itself.

This monitor does not use PWM at all. There is additional circuitry added to allow it to adjust the brightness through direct current (DC) instead. This makes a world of difference in the overall comfort of viewing the monitor. Even my non-migraine-suffering coworkers have commented that these monitors are noticeably easier on the eyes. Using these monitors I am able to work pain-free and without sunglasses

If you are looking for a transition from point and shoot cameras to the DSLR world, this is the camera to buy. It is very easy to use and learn. Designed very well and has got all the features of a DSLR.

PROS: I have to say it's a really nice camera if you know how to use it or starting to learn photography. Easy to function, very nice video mode, and most importantly nice quality photos.

CONS: I've used the 18-135mm lens often and I have to say it's pretty sweet, though I personally would buy just the body and a separate lens of your choice for whatever purpose. Also the lens barrel moves nice and smooth, maybe a bit too smooth. The lens can't hold it's self if it's held down (also does a bit when tilted)unless you're holding it, for example if you were to place the camera on a tripod to photograph something at 50mm from a direct top view, it will go from 50mm to 135mm. I find it really annoying especially with long exposures.

So basically it's a really nice camera for those who are new to photography and for those who are deeper into photography should just buy the body and lens separate, in my opinion.

Dropcam Pro Wi-Fi Wireless Video Monitoring Camera

Nothing to complain about this item. It just works. Nice video quality affects image latency up to 5-10 seconds, but it does not matter for me. There is no variety of mounts, but those inside are enough.222

Paired with secure online Cloud Video Recording (CVR), you can watch live and recorded video from anywhere on any device. Dropcam makes monitoring what you love and finding peace of mind easier than ever. Watch from any device such as your Apple Mac, Windows PC, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Android device. All you need is a Wi-Fi network paired with the free and easy-to-use Dropcam App. Watch what you love while away with Dropcam.

Design And Setup 222 One look at the packaging for the new Dropcam Pro$199.99 at Amazon and it's obvious the company is channeling Apple's product presentation. Even the box is a beaut, containing the absolute minimal paperwork to get up and running: a postcard sized quick start guide.

The appearance of the Dropcam Pro is identical to the Dropcam (still available at $149.99). The camera itself is a small puck that clips into a metal stand on a hinge. The stand rotates as needed in the base you attach to wall or ceiling, so you can view any area of a room. In the stand, Dropcam Pro measures 4.5 by 3.15 by 3.15 inches (HWD). Without the stand, the puck-shaped camera itself is hard to position, but not impossible, if you want to add some stealth to your deployment. It's nice that the Pro's stand is now black to match the camera, but it's a shame the 10-foot long USB-power cord and wall adapter are still white, so they don't exactly match.

Dropcam Pro is one of the few cameras that lack an Ethernet port. It's all about the wireless: Inside the camera is not just Wi-Fi, but dual-band 802.11n, so you can connect via 2.4GHz (the typical setup) or 5GHz. Dropcam Pro is the only surveillance camera on the market with dual-band. The camera actually picks the band for you, generally going 5GHz if available.

Your installation options include plugging the camera directly into a PC to access the setup files for Mac or Windows and going from there, but that's old-school. Much easier: Plug the Dropcam Pro into power, open up the free Dropcam app on an iOS device (or eventually Android 4.3 device), create or log in to a Dropcam account, and let it find the camera. Give the camera your Wi-Fi network login credentials, give it a unique name, and you're done.

Samsung 32-Inch LED HDTV

0 comments | Read more...
This is a really sweet Samsung HDTV for the price. The first one I bought at Walmart for $298 was on Sept. 4th. That one had some LED backlight bleed on the bottom center of it. Like a white cloud around 4 or 5 inches long. So I took it back and returned it and went to another Walmart to purchase another one. No noticeable backlight bleed on this one.I remember reading that there is no noticeable difference between a 1080P vs. 720P with HDTV's under 40". I found this to be true with a 32" HDTV. It honestly looks like a 1080P HDTV. So save your money unless you want a SMART 32" HDTV.I always grew up being a Sony fan. But Samsung has the best picture quality on the market today. You can see that when you checkout the displays at the stores. Was first considering a Vizio, but they are hit and miss with the user reviews. To me it was worth paying an extra $60 for a Samsung that gets much more consistent good user reviews. The blacks are a deep black and the colors are truly brilliant. The sound is very good on it. No need to hook-up external speakers to it. Love the thin bezel on it as well. I use this 32" for my medium size bedroom. Bigger is better, but anything bigger than this would be overwhelming.I would recommend doing what I did and go with SquareTrade on the warranty. They advertize a 3 year parts and labor warranty for $33. Make sure you call them instead of doing it online. When I called the Rep he offered me a 4 year warranty for $3 more. You can't beat a $364 year warranty. And SquareTrade has great user reviews.
